Rico Right On Time!

I requested a phone interview with Rico. And to my surprise I received a swift pleasant reply, agreeing to grant the 'Flavor of Love' Blogspot an interview. He invited me to give him a call to talk. So, never being able to pass up a chance to talk to a sexy man. I dialed quickly. Ring...ring... and then I hear a smooth clear voice with a Spanish accent. He was really friendly and chatty. In hindsight, this phone call was his way of feeling me out and making sure I was the real deal ( and not some bunny boiling loon). We scheduled our interview for the next day and said our goodbyes.

Next day, I called.....no answer. I leave a voice message trying to sound like a phone sex operator. (Please no Sandro...don't shake me!) I hang up disappointed. A few seconds later my phone rings.

Hi, is this Quanda?

Yes, this is she.

It's Rico. I am sorry I didn't answer the phone. I was downstairs eating

breakfast. ( He likes to eat... hmmmm Papi...I am sorry folks my mind remains in the gutter!)

What did you have for breakfast?

Toast, bacon, eggs... I eat pig. ( Me too!)

So do you eat a lot? ( Yes, people my mind is still in the gutter!)

Yes, I eat a lot. You know I work out nearly everyday.

I am surprised that you eat a lot. You are in such great shape, very slim. What's your favorite thing to do in the gym? I mean you like weightlifting or cardio more?

Oh I don't do cardio. That's why in episode 5, ....well I am sorry it hasn't aired yet so I can't explain. ( Damn VH-1 and those f@#$ing contracts! And while I am b@#$%ing Lisa Lopez can you pick up your phone or call me back!)

You don't do cardio, wth?

No ma'am. I don't like cardio. My metabolism is so fast that if I do cardio....I'll lose too much weight. I shrink down to nothing. I stick to the weightlifting. I want to keep a nice muscle mass.

( Fast metabolism...smh...if he was a woman, I probably would've hung up.)

So were you born and raised in Florida?

No, I was born and raised in Cuba. I was actually born in Havana.

Are you Americanized? ( Should the A be lower case or upper case?)

I wouldn't say that. Don't get me wrong, I love this country. I am grateful to be here. My family came here in 1999. I have my green card and everything. I am very happy to be here. I just grew up in Cuba and it's a big part of who I am. When we first came here we lived in Portland, Oregon. It was awesome. My mother was diagnosed with cancer. And she wasn't doing well with the cold weather. So we moved to Florida for her health. It's important that she is comfortable. My family has been dealing with a lot of health issues. Not too long ago my father had a heart attack.

I am sorry to hear that. He is okay?

Yes, he is doing better. And then to top it off I had a motorcycle accident.

Are you okay?

Yes, I am okay. I just have a few scares. I am not 100% yet. I am getting there.

Wow, your family has been through a lot!

Yes. We're a close knit family, very close. It's part of our Cuban culture, no matter what family first always.

How is your mother doing?

She doing good. She's taking her medication. And I do everything in my power to make her comfortable and happy. You know I appreciate her so much. I try to spend as much time as I can with her. I may have two months with her or two years. I just want to be there for my family. I live with my parents. And a lot of people look down on it. I really give a shit what they think. And they can kiss my ass. I am going to do what is right. Why should I get my own apartment and pay anywhere from $700 to a $1000 for rent? When I can stay with my family and help them out. It doesn't make sense to me. ( I totally agree.)

I've seen some of your photos...very niiiice. I think you would make one hell of a model, maybe even an actor. Do you have any career aspirations in either or both of those fields?

I am so glad you asked that question. It's a dream of mine to appear in GQ magazine. That is a definite goal. I would definitely also be interested in doing catalog work. I don't have an agent or agency yet. I am looking into it. I am very professional. I am not stubborn. I know how to follow directions. And I learn fast. I am punctual and very driven. I am a hard worker. Another opportunity I would love.... to have my own show. I would love a dating show or to VJ on a Spanish station or MTV DOS. I guarantee there would be a large audience. ( No se mucho espanol.....I don't have to understand to enjoy eye-candy.) You know what amazes me? There are a lot of dudes who are hooked on novelas. I am just not understanding it.

I don't either. But if you were in one, I'd watch. How are you dealing with phenomon of reality television stardom?

Well it's weird because in Tampa, I hardly get recognized. I guess they don't watch a lot of television in Tampa, Fl. But when I go other places, it can get crazy sometimes. I am appreciating all of the support and love.

Alright we have to get some ' I Love New York' questions in or my asshole of a boss Steups will bitch and moan. What guys do you think were there for New York?

I was there for her. I didn't care about all that biatch attitude. I wanted to get to know her. I like to take care of myself and look fashionable. She seemed to be more interested in the thug type.

Weren't you the first (hoping only....if Whiteboy did...I am going to set myself on fire!) guy to see her naked?

Yes, I am glad you caught that. I was headed to the hot tub to relax and she decided to join me. I think she was feeling me. So I go up to help her change. I was shocked when she took off her clothes. She was butt naked. I kept it gentlemanly. (Steups could learn a whole hell of a lot from you!) I was the first one to make out with her too. But you never get to see it. They cut out a lot of stuff with us and it concerned me. ( Editing is a BIATCH!)

You seemed very laid back on the show, maybe that's why.

In my everyday life, I am a lot more outgoing. I try to be a genuine person.

I don't want too but I have to ask about the snitching. Onix.....how could you?

I am going to be honest here. It was off the wall. I had been drinking and got twisted. They edited it out but I did try to approach Onix. It was not a vicious act. But someones got to go and I didn't want it to be me.

In a previous interview, I told Mr. Boston that we discovered before the show aired that one of the contestants allegely has a girlfriend.

Token wasn't it? He had a girlfriend and he called her from the house. You know what irritates me about that guy. He is constantly trying to watch us and snitch on us but he is the one who has a girlfriend at home. He is like that Red Oyster chick from 'Flavor of Love' season one.

Who else was there for New York?

Tango was there for her. He seemed to be what she was looking for...he has the edge and the look. Tango was for real. ( I am such a hater at times....no comment.) Romance was there for her. He is undercover gay.

While we are on the subject...you posted some bulletins that some view as homophobic. What were those bulletins about?

Look I don't care who you choose to sleep with or if you are born gay. I don't have an issue with someone else's lifestyle. I just got tired of the vulgar and inappropriate messages. You tell some of the same people over and over and over again that you are straight. I get a lot of messages and I really want to reply and show everyone respect. But certain people weren't respecting me. I am not saying all of the homosexuals were not respecting me. But there were some and they were really disrespectful with some of the messages. So I posted a bulletin and yes it was blunt. I am not gay. I do like pu@sy. I like women. Just because I like to be fashionable and I take care of myself doesn't make me gay. It wasn't meant to offend anyone. I just got fed up.

Who did you get along with in the house?

Tango, Whiteboy, Chance, T-Bone, Onix and Real.....you know what Real was there for her too. But man, that 'looking for your romeo' line I was like you aren't going to get no women with that crap. That line was crazy out there, approach a lady more calm and settled. Hold on that's T-Bone calling. He clicks over and returns... T-Bone and I are suppose to hang out. You know it's Super Bowl weekend approaching. There is going to be so much going on out here. I am going to the P. Diddy party.

Sounds like a lot of fun. You have to tell me about the dog house challenge. That shit was funny, what happened baby? ( We both laugh.)

I fix people bodies. I am not no carpenter or construction worker. I don't know nothing about that sort of stuff. Then you make me the foreman, man it was...I fix bodies man. The ideal was to make a mansion type dog house. I have Boston standing next to me doing nothing and talking about sex rooms and get high rooms. Chance and I are trying to work and Boston is trying to be funny. At one point, I just wanted to give up and say to hell with it. But I didn't want to quit and I wanted a date with her. I'd ask Boston for a nail and he'd pass me a piece of wood. Him and Chance were arguing back and forth. Chance tried to paint the house an ugly purple....man it was my best effort with what I had to work with. It looked like a raft from Cuba.

Oh by the way, make sure you tell your readers my family did not come on a raft to America. We came by plane, American Airlines ...first class...peanuts...TV and all that stuff. ( I was thinking what a wonderful Lifetime story it would be about Sandro's family making it through the treacherous ocean on a raft, living the American dream and then facing a series of health problems and then their son becoming a star. I am so ashamed of myself!)

Some of the eliminations are brutal. I mean they are ugly. What your thoughts on how New York does things? ( I think she did Romance and T- Weed so very wrong!)

The Trendz, Token, Romance elimination I loved it. She gets props for that. I felt horrible for T-Weed. Heat is crazy cuckoo. But I felt she should've been more respectful concerning Ya Ya. I mean that's his family and you don't know that women's health or anything else. You want your mother to be respected, so respect others' families too.

What do you think about New York's hair weave?

It's good a wig.

A good wig! I think it's a weave.

It's a good ass wig. It held on to her head and didn't come off. It's pretty good. I would like to see her without it, to see what she's working with. I think she said it was some good Indian hair.

You like her hair? I am sorry. It may not be for me to understand but how do you have your own show and your weave is looking like that? I mean can't VH-1 spring for a lace front wig?

You know like the ones Beyonce rocks. Her wigs are tough.

Alright what's your opinion on New York's new figure compared to her body on the show?

I am not going to lie. She has a banging body, no stretch marks at all.

Ummmm....Rico I am asking what do you think of her weight gain and the breast implants compared to her figure on the show?

Well I have only seen a couple of pictures. The implants are way too much. They look like two melons. If she is happy, I am happy for her.
