I am getting dressed for my New Year's Eve dinner party but I had to link you guys to a preview of 'Trends' album.

Trends is one of the contestants on 'I Love New York' and he is a really talented lad.
You can listen to the album on Sandra's My Space.
My favorite track is "I've tried everything".

I heard and read there is video of 'New York' naming some of the contestants on her show but I'll have to sort you out sometime tomorrow.
Happy New Year everyone and especially to my friend Groovy Noodles.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and lots of fun last night! Wanted to wish you all a great 2007! Anyway, I'll be back in a few with the news of the day.

Ok, how many times in 2006 did you hear or see in print the phrase "Tomcat" or "Brangelina?" Probably just about every single day. This leads me to my news item for today...

    Ivory's News Of The Day:

In Detroit, Lake Superior State University just released its annual "List of Words and Phrases Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness." The list has been compiled and released every New Years Day since 1976 and now has about 1,000 words and phrases that they wish would be officially banished. This year there are 16 entries, here they are:
1)Gitmo (this is US Military shorthand for Guatanamo Bay Naval Base)
2)Combined Celebrity Names (like the above mentioned "Tomcat")
3)Awesome (they believe the word should be used to express only things which bring/cause awe)
4)Gone/Went Missing (because it sounds as if missing is a place)
5)Pwn/Pwned (this is an Internet typo, meant to be "I own you," which gamers often use)
6)Now Playing In Theaters (where else would movies play?)
7)We're Pregnant (um, no, SHE'S pregnant)
8)Undocumented Alien (many said they should say "illegal" not undocumented)
9)Armed Robbery/Drug Deal Gone Bad (this makes it sound like it started out good)
10)Truthiness (popularized by the Comedy Central show The Colbert Report)
    11)Ask Your Doctor
    12)Chipotle
    13)i-Anything
14)Search (basically been replaced by Google!)
    15)Healthy Food
16)Boasts (as in realty terms, ie. "The master bedroom boasts his and her fireplaces.")
For other words from previous years, or to get the entire list since 1976, go to www.lssu.edu/banished. To submit your own choice for 2008, go to www.lssu.edu/banished.submit.php

That's all (finally!). Have a great day, and Happy 2007!
