Larissa's mom took to the stage because Mo'Nique made a fist

As promised, Larissa's mom was the guest on this afternoon's edition of the 'Elle Word' and she left no doubt that she will defend her daughter to the very end.
The Delta woman (ΔΣΘ) -President of her Sorority- explained her and Larissa's behavior with uncommon eloquence.

There were many 'new' issues raised so you ought to listen to the podcast yourself but she did reveal Mo'Nique did not live at the mansion and was unaware of the 'drama'; relying heavily on third-party accounts.
She further explained the incident with Larissa and the phone-call; noting the call was from her boyfriend serving in Iraq, thus underlying it's importance.

At times she seemed too eager to excuse Larissa's aggressive nature but she was successful in presenting an alternative viewpoint. But, as with everything, each person will form their opinion and you can only do so if you listen to the entire podcast...

Congratulations to Gabrielle, Rican and BrownSuga for another fine interview

  3. Yea you need to remind yourself that you're somebody's MAMA! Namely MINE! lol...First you leave me in the middle of a blog by myself all the time, and now you're rubbin stuff in my face, basically telling me how much of a LOSER your daughter is...lol

    ReplyDelete
  4. Nah man Mama never made no fool. LOL

Oh TX why do u wait til the latter half of my work day to come on? Now I have to leave again because rain is setting up real bad outside and I dont want to get stuck in Port of Spain.

    Sorry

    (blows kiss)

  5. Love the "third party accounts" bit. Since she wasn't in the house, either, isn't that exactly what she's basing her opinion on, too?

    ReplyDelete
  6. E: sorry! If I don't see my regular ppl on, I'm not on as often!

Two: I know, right? And one of the 'third-parties' she's listening to is her daughter, so of course everything is gonna be everyone else's fault..but lemme shutup bc I haven't heard the interview and will either have to wait on Gabby to tell me what happened or be patient and wait til I get home later to listen...lol...

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hey Shawn!

    Did you get to hear the interview? If so could you gimme a summary to hold me over til I get home?? {puppy dog eyes, lol}

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hey TX,

Well the only thing I have to said is regardless how old I am if my mom was around and heard me tell a elder to shut up and something smart wise regardless if that elder said mean stuff about me, my mom would had Pop the living mess out of me even though I'm almost in my 40's.

I just glad they didn't take alot of calls while her mom was on.

    ReplyDelete
  9. TX, you have to listen to it. I just felt like even though I am a mom myself yes I would have got up to if a older female had her fist in my child face but at the same time I would had to check my child and put that female in place but other then that she had some good points.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Shawn: Yea I hear you, my mama don't play about that! My mama's the type that if she trusts that adult/elder is correcting me for a GOOD reason and not just provoking me, she will be quiet and let them do their thing...and THEN get me when they're done lol...She don't believe in tryna be my friend, she be done embarrassed me in front of the WHOLE VH1 crowd and I'da shut DAH-OWN like Shay did when Mo'Nique said she knew her mama and how it pissed her off to know how Mother Shay raised her and how she was acting...she STRAIGHT SHUT-UP...Mo'Nique put Shay on hush-mode when she pulled the 'mama'card lol...I'da had the exact same reaction...except I may have flinched just THINKIN of my mama seeing that lol...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Shawn: yea I hear you b/c when Mo rolled up on Bootz my mama would stepped up and been like, 'Hey now...I see your point and i agree with you, but that steppin up in her face gone have to stop' lol

    ReplyDelete
  12. I like the name two, but 'one' would have been better.

I liked Larissa's mom because she did more to avoid the stereotype than all the episodes of Charm School.
    If there was 'stereotyping' involved.

To think larissa is the daughter of a Delta says something. Her behavior wasn't ghetto beavior, it was HER behavior

    ReplyDelete
  13. Tx you aint lying. My momma can still throw a good shoe or book at me when I do something wrong or she don't agree with something. And yes she did shut Shay down with the momma talk.

I just felt like she was ok with how Larissa was then to mention she has a program too for homeless people kids or people. Now I might be wrong. But what crack me up was how she mention that her child is shy which is cool but something to the effect how larissa don't brag about the things she is doing but when the other girls mention they doing this or that, Larissa has already done it.

Then when she mention she was a Delta my supervisor was like well that explain a whole lot.

    ReplyDelete
  14. lmao Shawn. Are you saying Delta's have a superiority complex?

    Because you ain't lyin'

    Smile it's a beautiful day.

The Delta is ok but alot of soriorities consider them ghetto well atleast back in my days of school.

    ReplyDelete
  18. E: YOu back?! YAY! Except I'm leaving in about 45 minutes

    Shawn: lol @ the shoe...

    "frowns and pouts"

    ReplyDelete
  22. ah hope yuh have on clothes Electra.
I might pose that question to a Delta, Shawn, and receive their thoughts

    ReplyDelete
  23. Shawn: My cousin is an Alpha and that's how he described the Delta...on the other hand the A.K.A.s are said to be stuck-up, usually yella females...but I've met women from BOTH sororities and each organization has some of each in the opposite sororities...which is ironic lol....just goest to show stereotypes don't just end at race...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Shawn its raining outside and I ams stuck in the city, heading east on a highway that is inadequate to accomodate all the vehicles in this small island.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah Steups I am wearing clothes (for now)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeap that how it was back in the days. THE AKA was the lightskin chicks and the Delta was the darkskin chicks. Remember Spike Lee movie School Daze or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. YEah I remember School Daze that was with Omar Epps and Tyra Banks right? Or am I so bored that I am confused?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wish it rain here. It so hot here. Well Electra I hope your ride comes soon.

  32. Yeah I think the other show was Higher Learning or something like that but I remember when I was very young I looked at School Daze I think I should have another look.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well actually it still like that. Where guys only deal with a female that has a certain look: eyes, hair, butt, hips (if she has the breeding kind).

LOL did I go 1800 century on you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Guys I am trying soooo hard not to leave my office and go down to the Cafe and purchse one of those ice creams or lollies or chocolates or......

    ReplyDelete
  35. E: I know, my best friend and I were kinda talkin about how much we section ourselves off within our OWN community. We want other races to respect us but we stereotype and hate on our OWN race. We have so many stereotypes: light-skinned vs. black-skinned, ghetto vs. conservative, acting white vs. keepin it real...etc! Its sad

    ReplyDelete
  36. Shawn: No...you're good lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hmmmmph sounds like self hatred to me. Brain washed persons to believe that anything African is ugly which is the exact opposite, just look at Tyrese (licks lips)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah girl I glad in Trini its just African vs Indian LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  39. E: lol! Tyrese is just aight to me, but not because of his skin, cuz thats a nice piece of chocolate, but b/c of that 'PREDATOR'-type lump at the front of his DOME, and don't tell me y'all don't see that either!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nah but seriously, its really a sad thing because (I am not preaching), God made us in his OWN IMAGE and LIKENESS so I really dont understand how something made in the imageo of the Creator could be ugly or dispised.

    ReplyDelete
  41. A friend had me cracking up one night we was talking Beyonce and he was like look at her hips she has breeding hips which make her very fertile. Then he show a picture of her when she first started which she was skinny and then compare her recent pic. He tells me JayZ is taking very good care of those hips for more kids.

    ReplyDelete
  42. LOL TX people ask me what I see in him. BUT he is very attractive especially his teeth and his (licks lips) BODY!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah Shawn I know that men in Africa love a strong woman with wide hips and backs.

  98. Larissa's mom speaks very well unlike her daughter. She's appears very supportive of her daughter even to a fault. She upholds, rationalizes, and makes excuses for Larissa's poor behavior. The mother talks like she actually lived in the Charm School house but she didn't; she's basing her opinions strictly on what Larissa has said. The mother's acting like she's the ultimate authority on everything that happened during filming and on Monique. Monique wasn't at the mansion at all times, so what? How does she know that Monique had editorial control? I read in Essence that according to Mikki Taylor, they were not allowed to watch the footage. Monique was an employee just like the FOL girls and I doubt she had the control that some people assume she did. Larissa doesn't seem shy to me, rather an instigating, attention-seeking bully to the all the non-Black women except Becky. I suspect that Larissa's mom may be less supportive towards her at home, probably is very critical and demeaning of her daughter but just doesn't want other people treating her that way. Shay said in her VH-1 interview that Monique asked her not to leave after taping for the reunion show ended because she wanted Shay and Larissa to try to work out their issues, but it seemed like Larissa's mama was insinuating that she was responsible for that. The mother was taking subtle swipes at the other FOL women suggesting that Larissa has done a lot, is a trendsetter, and the others are copying her daughter, who's also already done a lot of things the other women are just now experiencing. I don't know, maybe I'm just biased against mother and daughter, but I think Larissa's mom is to use Larissa's words, "full of shit."

    ReplyDelete
  99. Larissa's mother has a hard time seeing her daughter for who she is. For all her charity work helping troubled young people why can't she recognize her child as troubled. And what the show hon, not everyone your daughter got into it with was starting with Larissa. I think folks are being too hard on Monique. First off as I saw it Monique wasn't rolling on Larissa as though she was trying to punk her. Second I don't believe the show was about Monique changing these women's lives... it was about providing them with situation in which they could utilize what hey learned, self-reflect, and change if they wanted their attitude or behavior. It was not up to Monique to play Dr. Phil and try to psychonalyze these young women. She was merely holding up a mirror. Either they like what they see or they don't. And anybody and everybody knows that when you get on one of these shows they can cut episodes whatever way they like... create storylines where there were none. But you can't look like a bitch if there's not enough film of you acting like one. You can't be mad at looking like a whore when you let some man slob on your chest within lets say an hour or two of meeting him (on camera no less). I think Monique did her job she was real with them and thats all you can do at the end of the day because "you can take a horse (or whore, Brooke) to water but you can't make the drink".

  100. Steups!!!

What does her being a Delta have to do with anything?

If my child had conducted herself on national television like LaRissa has done, I would not want my sorority affiliation known to America lest someone try to connect my affiliation to my ability to raise a lady.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hello All,

I have been lurking on this board since the first season of FOL. I probably would have stayed in the shadows if not for the negative comments about my beloved sorority. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta, I found some of the comments offensive. How does one label a group of college educated women with an established reputation for public service and a heartfelt desire to serve all mankind “ghetto”? Our members range from Carol Moseley Braun, U.S. Senator, Nikki Giovanni, esteemed poet and writer, Mary McLeod Bethune, educator to Ruby Dee, actress (I went ole’ school for the poster who commented that we were “ghetto” back in the day). It is not an accident that DST is the largest African American sorority to date, people tend to gravitate towards positive things and we known for caring.

Talk about and judge Larissa’s mother and her parenting skills, or lack there of, until your hearts are content, but to classify an entire group of women in a derogatory manner is distasteful. While I commend her on the hard work she does on behalf of DST, using our sorority in an attempt to redeem herself is disgraceful. However, we as a society must be mindful not to judge the masses by a few. We need to move away from petty generalizations and stereotypes; people are complex individual with many layers and should not be placed into a box.

    Thanks allowing me to vent,
    Proud Delta Member
